The Epping Club is proud to confirm the completion of Karonga Schools multi sports courts upgrade just 12 months after the project was launched on Do Something Day 2018.
Karonga Schools Courts Upgraded by Community Partner The Epping Club
Costing in excess of $100,000 with the majority of funds raised by The Epping Club the project has brought immediate benefit to the students of the school as well as being nominated for a Clubs in the Community Award by industry body ClubsNSW.
Last year, Karonga was selected by The Epping Club to be their largest single benefactor under the ClubGrants Program, an initiative which sees Registered Clubs contribute funds back into the local community.
This partnership has seen The Epping Club work with Karonga to upgrade the school’s multi-sports court. With a new surface, line markings, fencing and access pathways the improvements will make participation in sport and physical activity more accessible to the students at Karonga as well as ensuring safer and easier play.
Principal Mark Gosbell commented of the partnership, ‘We are thrilled with the new facilities and truly cannot measure the benefits this will bring to the students of Karonga both now and in the future. This is a true example of a Community Club making lasting impacts in their wider community.’
CEO Peter Saez said that he was confident that the project would bring great benefit to the students and school, enabling Karonga to continue its exceptional work with special needs children.
‘We have always admired the great work the Karonga School does, and we are delighted to have been able to achieve this project for them. My team and I are passionate that The Epping Club leaves a meaningful footprint in the local area and we believe this is very much part of this project’.
Board President David Taylor further commented, ‘At The Epping Club we not only believe in creating community but also contributing to it. This year we have been able to distribute almost half a million dollars through the ClubGrants Program supporting many charities, associations, schools and community groups. These donations are part of our commitment to making an impactful, meaningful and valuable difference in our locale. The Karonga School is our biggest project to date and has been selected very carefully for the immense benefits our support can bring’.
The Epping Club’s Board and Management team hosted an official opening of the courts on 5 September 2019.
